Celtic Pubs, Clubs And CSC’s In London

Any corrections just add them to comments at the bottom and we’ll change them soon as possible…also if we’ve missed anything let us know and if you think we should add somewhere we have missed then stick it all in the comments section!

London you're a lady...

We’re not going to add every Celtic friendly pub as despite pubs closing at an alarming rate London’s still full of Irish boozers that show Celtic games. These are the ones that have Supporters Clubs or are particularly long established or memorable.

I’ve also included some links to web-sites that review pubs as these tend to have good maps and the details of how to get there. Ignore 95% of the actual reviews on these sites because if you care that some middle class tit thinks that such and such a place is run down or scruffy just because he couldn’t get his favourite wine then you’re in the wrong place. Its people that make pubs not nice carpets and all these come with a special guarantee… a Celtic guarantee!

  • The next big event in the Celtic calendar is The Old Firm upcoming match against another team from Glasgow on Sunday 15th March. The game is at mid-day but their are a handful of events going on after the game. At The Cock Tavern the Underground CSC will have Irish ballad singer Wayne Brennan on at The Cock Tavern raising funds for Prisoners from 2pm to 5pm. THE NWCSC will have music at Frostys Bar Kenton from London’s #1 Rebel band Saoirse playing live at 6pm. Check with CSC’s for times and other details.
  • An Evening with John Hartson, Stan Petrov and Alan Thompson. Saturday 30th of May 2020 at The Holiday Inn, Empire Way, Wembley HA9 8DS. Tickets £50/ £75 (VIP) includes dinner- 2 course meal, entertainment, guest speakers, live interview, Q and A. Tickets

As is usual these days most things happen on Facebook and these are a pretty lively bunch that you can pick up any bit of information needed from. Not much to say except its yer typical FB group so all the good and bad bits of FB apply. Just click to join and get involved in the discussion. Members are based all over London and the South-East so its all covered. Has taken a while to get established but for new Celts to the area this should be your first port of call.

The Underground CSC welcomes anyone who is Republican Socialist orientated, anti-fascist, anti-racist and anti-sectarian. We have no allegiance to queen or pope – just to Celtic! The club is based at The Cock Tavern, 23 Phoenix Road, Euston, London, NW1 1HB.

Wimbledon CSC are based at The South London Irish Centre, 138-140 Hartfield Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 3TG. About 10 minutes walk from the Train and Tube station which links to many, many places.

The centre is a great community run venue and very welcoming! A huge backroom where they show the games and the Club are hoping to have bands on after games in the near future. Cheap beer, the Celts, a warm welcome and Tayto’s and new members are always welcome!

the club have a new Facebook page here

Molly Blooms

Sad to say that my auld haunt The Yucatan on Stoke Newington Road is losing favour among the many Celtic supporters in North-East London BUT the good news is that the Bhoys have moved just down the road a bit towards Dalston Junction to Molly Blooms which is run by one of the brothers who also run The Yucatan. Not strictly a Supporters Club more just a gathering of supporters and friends but a friendly bunch who also welcome the Bhoys Of Ilford CSC when their venue further East is unable to show Celtic games. Molly Blooms was formerly the New Brewery Tap and has been an Irish pub for a good few years now and can be found at 525 Kingsland Road, Hackney, London E8 4AR. You can get the overground to Dalston Junction turn right out the station and the pub is a very short walk down the road. It is also only a short walk from Hackney Downs station.

Ramsgate Emerald CSC welcome all locals and those on holiday to pop along to the Elephant & Castle on Hereson Road to join us and watch the Bhoys. We have members dotted around the Kent area so if you need instruction of how to join us, or want to meet up on the journey please ask and we’ll get in touch. Ramsgate station is a 10 minute walk and a quick look on Google maps will guide you to the pub, postcode – CT11 7DP.

To check the game is on please call the bar directly on 01843593046 or check out our facebook page. GBC HH.

wl cscCeltic Football Club was founded in 1888 on a charitable basis and proceeds from their games were used to give the needy children in Glasgow’s East End, at least one square meal a day. Although times have changed, our supporters’ club (based in Brentford, west London), has carried on this tradition supporting many local charities including the local branches of Help The Aged, Mencap and The Royal Princess Trust for Carers for over 4 years. Our new charity is Lindon bennett School for severely handicapped children.

The West London Celtic Supporters’ Club was founded in 1996 over quite a few beers in The New Inn, Brentford, west London. That remained our home for 16 years before moving to our new home at The Horse Guardsman public house, 23 Ealing Road, Brentford, TW8 0JU on 8th December 2010. It’s here we aim to show every game possible with Celtic minded people where a warm welcome awaits you.

The Royal Horse Guardsman

The Bhoys of Croydon CSC was formed in 2000.

After a fair bit of inactivity (the club was looking for a new venue for games) they have finally settled in Railway Tavern, 401 Southend Lane, Sydenham, SE26 5BH ( across from the Sainsbury’s superstore). A newish Celtic friendly pub run by Turkish brothers. They put on a good spread of free grub – turkish stew, filled rolls, etc – at half time for big matches. Rebel songs before and after matches and maybe 50/60 fans for the big games. Nearest station is Lower Sydenham.

The Railway Tavern

The Railway Tavern

another decent Celtic pub in Sydenham is The Pavilion. Has a good weekend crowd for games and is right beside Sydenham tube station. The pubs address is 325 Kirkdale, London SE26 4QB. Some reviews, maps and directions to the Pavilion can be found here and here.

The Sheephaven Bay

The Sheephaven Bay

Based right in the heart of Camden in a side street sort of opposite Mornington Crescent at The Sheephaven Bay, 2 Mornington Street, Camden Town NW1 7QD. A real piece of Erin in the middle of London. A Lovely pub with very friendly staff and customers.

Facebook group page is here and pub Web-Site here

Formerly based at The Kingdom pub in the heart of Irish London in Kilburn at 229 Kilburn High Road, London, NW6 7JG. They have since moved but I recommend checking out the pub if you’re in the area.

They are now based at The Mazenod Social Club, Mazenod Rd (just off Quex Road), Kilburn, London NW6. Nearest tubes are West Hampstead, Kilburn and Kilburn Park and also West Hampstead (Thameslink) and Brondesbury and Kilburn High Road (National Rail). All stations are a 5-10 minute walk.

The Supporters Club have a facebook page here though you will have to be accepted first to see it and The Social Club have a page here.

Celtic Badges, Celtic Supporters Club Badges, CSC BadgesStill on the go despite being quite a while since they were based in Ilford at the sadly missed O’Gradys. Since then they have led a nomadic life rocking up in various places and last time they were based at the excellent Irish pub The Queens Head in Stratford. Again they were forced to move when the owners decided to give the popular landlord the shove (he is now based in Benidorm I hear) and turn the place into yet another gastropub. Stratford’s recent gentrification has seen the area transformed (and not for the better) and like most of London’s high streets Irish pubs do not fit the bill especially if they are of the authentic, working mans type. The club has moved to The Carpenters Arms just up the road at 17  Carpenters Road, Stratford E15 2JH and is just a short walk from Stratford tube and rail station. The place is a West Ham pub so the Hammers will always take precedent over Celtic. You can find maps, reviews here and their Facebook page is here.

The Carpenters Arms

Monaghan'sBased in the long established Monaghan’s Tavern at 239 High Rd, Wood Green N22 8HF. Very close to Wood Green tube station. You can check out the pub here and their Facebook page here for more information.

The Bhoys are not an official CSC More like an irregular collective. They don’t have a a web-site but you can follow them on Twitter here to keep up with them.

The lads were in touch in March 2018 to say that “we no longer meet in Monaghan’s Tavern, as it became unpredictable, with not opening for early games and the BT ones on a poor Internet stream, which kept cutting out just before we scored! Most of us now head over to Gertie Brownes.”

Details for Gerties in East Finchley are below. Monaghans is still a great pub and worth checking out if you ever in the area.

NWCSC (North West London)

nw cscs

We are one of London’s oldest Celtic Supporters Clubs ( Est 1996). Throughout the years we have had many trips to Scotland Europe and Ireland. All the top bands such as Wolfe Tones Irish Brigade Charlie and the Bhoys Spirit of Freedom Saoirse Blackstairs Rebel Bible Code Sundays Damien Quinn Gary Og Shebeen among others have played functions for us. We are now based in Fostys Bar 404 Kenton Road Harrow HA3 9DW since it opened in July 2017. We welcome new members £10 for yearly (calender year) £5 for Under-18s and OAPS .

For directions to Frostys- The 183 bus goes past the pub and is just a few minutes from Kenton Road overground or Harrow on the Hill tube station or a short walk from Northwick Park tube station.

(pub FB page here).

Our promise is to show every Celtic game and if we can’t we will tell you beforehand. Hail Hail. We will have lots of bands and lots of craic. NWCSC have a group page on Facebook here and we wish the club well.

ConnollysThe Emerald Celtic Supporters Club meet at Connolly’s Bar, 450 Chiswick High Rd, W4 5TT. The nearest tube is Chiswick Park on the District line but is easily accessible from a few different tube lines.

Pub web-site is here and some other sites with pub info here and here

Don’t know a lot about this CSC so if anyone can supply a few lines please get in touch Bhoys and Ghirls.

A relatively new addition to the Celtic scene in London Gertie Brownes. Not attached to any CSC’s but treats Celts royally and has also a subscription to Celtic TV which many here do not. Its a unpretentious Irish pub with a warm welcome and super Guinness. Its located at 95 High Road, East Finchley N2 8AG and is just a short walk from East Finchley tube station. The pub has its Facebook page here and more info/maps here.

A group just started a Facebook page here. Famous for their fantastic banner if nothing else!

The Brighton Celtic Supporters Club meet at Molly Malones at 57  West Street for televised Celtic matches. We have a private room downstairs, with a large screen and bar.

Please check the Facebook page here or the WebSite here for up to date news. The Molly Malones pub has a WebSite here also.

The Gateway in Reading

The Martin O’Neill Celtic Supporters Club meet in The Gateway Pub, 31 Greyfriars Road, Reading RG1 1PA. Just on the outskirts of the city centre and not far from the railway station. You can telephone 0118 9590376 on match days to find out if the games on.

Had a very nice evening in here before going to see Flogging Molly last year so can easily recommend it.

Contact Readingcsc1@gmail.com or check their Facebook page here.

Worthing Spirit Of 67

Worthing Spirit Of 67

The CSC meet at The Cheers Bar on Ann Street, Worthing. Next to Guilbourne Centre. All BT sport games and sky sports games involving Celtic will be shown live. The 700 bus from Brighton to Portsmouth stops 2 mins from Cheers Bar and Worthing railway station is only 10 mins walk.

Holidaymakers or anyone in the area on match days are welcome but contact the CSC first on their Facebook page here.

We are a Celtic Supporters Club based in Maidenhead, Berkshire which is located next to Windsor, I started the club in the mid-ninety’s when I wanted somewhere to watch the games locally when i couldn’t make it up. In it’s prime in 2002/2003 we had around 70 members who would come to the pub to cheer the Bhoys on. My name is Tam O’Kane and now run the club from The Pond House in Maidenhead where we’ve been for the last two years and have a base of around 30 members with 15 regularly watching every game. We usually have an annual pilgrimage every year to Glasgow (sometimes several times to cheer on the lads as a group and can take 20 or so up. Most go up more often in smaller groups and travel further a field when possible. Cracking club for any Celts out there who are in the area and want to watch the game or have moved close by. We have travelled as far as Rome, Seville, Barcelona, Turin, Hamburg, Dortmund and more over the years and are a dedicated bunch. Hail Hail. All are welcome.

The club is based at The Pond House, 53 Bath Road, Maidenhead, SL6 4AL just a 20 minute walk from Maidenhead Railway station. Here’s a couple of reviews with maps and directions here and here and you can check the Bhoys out on their Twitter and their Facebook pages.

Celtic Bars

the internet guide to the brilliant ‘Celtic Bars’ WebSite for Celtic friendly bars all around the world here

philomenasSad to say that The Rob Roy in Paddington has permanently closed now and will be sadly missed as possibly the only Scottish pub in London. The ‘Rob Roy Reds’ Aberdeen Supporters Club now meets at Philomena’s Bar, 40 Great Queen Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5AA which is located between Covent Garden and Holborn tube stations. Packed for Aberdeen games but they also show’s Celtic games and Scotland games. A ban on Rangers games unless Aberdeen are playing them or Celtic. Pub web-site here and some review’s and directions here and here.

There’s the The Irish Club in Slough up the road. ‘The Merry Slough Bhoys’ based there I think or you’re only about a hour from the Wimbledon CSC who are a great branch too.

The White Bear on Kennington Park Road (nearest tube stop Kennington Northern Line) used to be a bit of a watering hole for Celts when I lived in Clapham a few years ago as well if that’s still on the go? Celtic European games would get put on the big screen Arsenal fans had to go upstairs!
