Who better than to pay tribute to one of Tipperary’s most famous sons than Tipp’s best Folk band The Rebel Hearts.

Fitting in the week that Tipperary were over to play London at Gaelic Football in west London (and kinda lucky to escape with a point!) that we feature Tipp’s premier Folk band The Rebel Hearts. Celebrating their 25th anniversary this year the single raced up the charts on release and the band – made up of musicians from the heart of Tipperary – celebrated a Irish singles #1 saying

“It’s some craic to see the Rebel Hearts name up there in the charts and more importantly keeping Shane MacGowans music alive and well.”

They have been known to pop over to this side of the Irish sea to play and one memorable night I won’t forget in a hurry was over a decade ago in October 2012 at The Quays in Co. Holloway. A big gang of us arrived early to watch the football Ireland Vs Germany. Well to shorten the story we were humiliated 6-1 and the Rebel Hearts arrived to play afterwards and must surely have wondered why the bunch of English accented lads were so sullen and depressed. Even the band couldn’t cheer us up and one by one we slipped off into the night…
