It’s over for another year but as our pal Leeson would say “everyday is St. Patrick’s Day” so enjoy this bumper collection of diverse as heck Celtic-Punk and Irish Folk tracks that came out over the last couple of weeks from bands from right across the globe.

HOUNDS OF BELFAST – Belfast Run

LA band Hounds Of Belfast have been fair churning them out for the last 12 months or so at a level that we have found (and failed) to keep up with them! An Irish-American band blending the heart and soul of traditional Irish music with the raw energy and attitude of Punk with infectious melodies, foot-stomping rhythms and a glorious rebellious spirit. A band we will be watching closely.

TIR NAN OG – Idiots On Parade

New single from German band in preparation for a tour and album release in the Autumn with a great video filmed at the Fiddler’s Green in Eichstätt.

JOLLY JACKERS – I’m Not Drunk

Jolly Jackers are another band on a roll at the moment with a new (ish) singer in tow and bringing out some really good music that straddles Celtic-Punk but with some Pop (ish) moments that could see them go places. Another one to watch with an album due out soon.

DAOIRI FARRELL – Black Water Side

A true master of Irish traditional music who exploded across screens a few years back when his amazing version of ‘Creggan White Hare’ came out. It has since gathered well over 4 million views and Dublin born Daoiri has continued to release some amazing music.

BASTARD BEARDED IRISHMEN – I Got Drunk In Kilkee

First release (I think) since 2022’s Christmas themed LP A Very Bastard Christmas and always great to hear new music from these festival favourites Pittsburgh Bastards.

BANGER’S BRIDGE – Hold Onto This

So far we have only featured bands that have graced these pages multiple times so here’s a new band for you. Bangers Bridge from Chicago (I thnk) and the sound quality is a bit strange but no denying its a powerful song with some great lyrics. Past releases were under singer Patrick Goray’s stage alias ‘Eugeine Grey’ where they released their first debut Life Is Good.

TORTILLA FLAT -Nights Like These

A band that was actually one of the very first reviews we did and always brilliant to hear from them. Recorded live at Live at the Brienzersee Rockfestival in Switzerland and taken from the album A Trainload Full of Stout.

THE CLOVERHEARTS – Luck Of The Irish

With a couple of visits to London in the last year and a stack of dates with Ferocious Dog to come later in this year the Italian (and Aussie) Celtic-Pop-Punk band The Cloverhearts are making waves over here and this brilliant song is the first single off the upcoming album Loving In Squalor.

13 KRAUSS – Mary Tempestad

Bit of a cheat this one as the song is an old one and recorded live at their recent gig celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Spanish band 13 Krauss debut album.

DREAD CREW OF ODD WOOD – Leather Ship

Metally Pirate Punk which as you know is just Celtic-Punk with growling! Fantastic band and a fantastic song which is the second single off the upcoming album Rust & Glory which came out this week. We’ve heard it and love it so watch this space for a review any day!
