APPEARING SOON: ANTO MORRA- ‘London Irish’

The wonderful Anto Morra telling it how it is with ‘London Irish’

“London town is always home to me

But I’ve another across the Irish sea

That my parents do come from

But it’s not where i belong

I’ve been called a Paddy and a English pom

A thick Mick and lousy cockney scum

But I don’t give a damn cos I know I am

And that is

Chorus

Irish London Irish

And there’s millions just like me

Our good mothers did all that they could

While our fathers worked the mixer and the hod

Digging tunnels underground

Oh so hard to earn a pound

When you were

Chorus

Irish London Irish

And there’s millions just like me

The Banba, Garryowen and Galtimore

Was where they’d meet up and dance around the floor

But they’d always save some cash

For the plate at Quex Road Mass

Cos they were

Chorus

Irish London Irish

And there’s millions just like me

The city’s changed so much since I was young

Some much cleaner but so much soul has gone

The Stag’s Head in Camden Town

Like so many got closed down

But still there’s

Chorus

Irish London Irish

And there’s millions just like me”

playing next Monday in North London at TChances in Tottenham with The Dead Maggies and Steve White And The Protest Family.

THE DEAD MAGGIES

‘London Irish’ is taken from Anto’s new album ‘Never Had To Shout’ which is available on CD or vinyl and is well worth a tenner of anybodies money. We’ll be reviewing the album real soon and its every bit as good as this song too!!
